Executive Director

Robert Zornes has been executive director since February, 2001. He has brought a wealth of experience, knowledge and leadership to Mother's Refuge. Robert has previously served as Executive Director of another large maternity home and adoption agency for nine years and has been a staff member of a prominent metropolitan church in Kansas City. In addition to social services, he has been successful in sales and business. He has conducted numerous training, motivational and leadership seminars.

Robert earned a master's degree in counseling education from Emporia State University and has additional graduate studies in journalism at the University of Kansas. His bachelor's degree is from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri.

Robert and his wife, Susan, have three sons and one adorable grandson. Carl, his wife, Shannon, and their son, Nathan, live in Parkville, Missouri. Carl is a security supervisor, teaches at the policy academy and Metropolitan Community Colleges. Bobby works for the Parkhill School district technology department and is a free-lance photographer. He volunteers at Mother's Refuge to keep our technology updated. Josh, the youngest, is a percussion performance major at Missouri Western University. Susan is a fourth grade teacher and assists Robert with many projects for Mother's Refuge.
