On the outside, it looks like an ordinary house.
Group of concerned citizen from Eastern Jackson County started Mother’s Refuge in 1987. Their concern was helping pregnant teenagers who didn’t have a safe place to live. Numerous people from various churches and community members had a hand in fund raising and organizing Mother’s Refuge.
Each year we provide more than 6,000 bed nights, prepare more than 15,000 meals and snacks, change over 12,000 soiled diapers. None of this could be possible without support from community partners like you.

“At the darkest time in my life, I found hope. The House Parents were always there when I needed some to talk.”
I lived here from 1989-1990. It is an amazing concept and an excellent opportunity for young girls to learn how to care for themselves and their new little family.
I came to Mothers Refuge 10 years ago when i became pregnant at 15. I am now a high school graduate , a college graduate… and an educator at a beauty college. thank you, thank you , thank you!! For everything you’ve done for myself and my family.
I was a resident of Mothers Refuge back in 1999, when I was 18- for 3 moths. I am forever grateful and blessed to be apart of a beautiful program that helps teens in tough situations and lifts them up and helps them become self sufficient. Thank you, Mother Refuge.
