Because of You, Mothers Find Hope

May is a special month at Mother’s Refuge.

As Mother’s Day approaches, we spend time reflecting on the incredible women we have the privilege of walking alongside every single day. We see young mothers choosing courage in the middle of uncertainty. We see late-night feedings, first ultrasounds, baby giggles, milestones reached, tears wiped away, and hope slowly rebuilt.

And through it all, we see something else too:
A community that continues to show up.

Because of you, a young mom has a safe place to sleep tonight.
Because of you, a baby is held, loved, and cared for in a stable home.
Because of you, mothers who once felt alone are reminded that they are worthy of support, dignity, and a future filled with possibility.

At Mother’s Refuge, motherhood often begins in the middle of crisis. Many of the young women who come through our doors have experienced homelessness, trauma, abandonment, or impossible choices. But here, they are met with compassion instead of judgment and support instead of fear.

This month especially, we celebrate the strength of the mothers in our program. Their resilience is remarkable. Every parenting class attended, every job interview completed, every counseling session, every healthy meal made, every diaper changed in the middle of the night — these moments matter. These are the quiet victories that create lasting change.

We also want to celebrate you.

To every volunteer who rocks babies so a mom can rest…
To every donor who gives faithfully…
To every partner who provides meals, resources, or encouragement…
To every person who shares our mission and believes in these young families…

You are part of every success story that unfolds within these walls.

As we continue building Higher Ground and preparing for the future of expanded support through our Transitional Living Program, we are reminded daily that this mission has always been bigger than a building. It is about creating a place where mothers and babies can begin again — safely, lovingly, and with hope.

This Mother’s Day, thank you for helping make that possible.

Because when a mother is supported, generations are changed.
